Day 14: Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

📅 Date: Tuesday, March 18, 2025

📖 Scripture Reading:

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

📖 Full Context (2 Corinthians 5:6-9):

"So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him."2 Corinthians 5:6-9 (NKJV)

Faith Over Sight

Life often presents us with uncertainties. We long for clarity, yet God calls us to trust Him even when we don’t see the full picture. Walking by faith means moving forward in trust—believing in God's promises even when circumstances seem unclear, difficult, or even impossible.

💭 Do I trust God even when I don’t see immediate answers?
💭 Am I relying more on my senses and logic, or am I stepping forward in faith?

What It Means to Walk by Faith

🚶‍♂️ Faith Requires Trust – Just as a blind person trusts their guide, we must trust that God is leading us, even when the path isn’t fully visible. Faith is believing God is at work, even when we don’t see the outcome.

👁 Not by Sight – Our natural instinct is to rely on what we can see, hear, and touch, and on our own limited understanding and logic. But faith is trusting in what God has said, not just what our circumstances show. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

💡 Faith in Action – Walking by faith isn’t passive—it requires action. The Bible gives us powerful examples of people who acted in faith:

  • Noah built the ark before he saw the rain (Hebrews 11:7).
  • Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8).
  • Peter stepped out of the boat before he knew he could walk on water (Matthew 14:29).

Faith is obedience even when we don’t have all the answers. As James 2:26 says, “faith without works is dead.”

Reflect & Respond:

🔍 Heart Check:

  • Where in my life do I need to trust God more?
  • Am I hesitating to obey God because I can’t see the full picture?

📖 Scripture Meditation: Read Hebrews 11, the "Hall of Faith," and reflect on how God honored those who trusted Him.

🚶‍♂️ Action Steps:

  • Surrender Your Need for Control: Identify one area where you struggle to trust God. Pray and commit it to Him.
  • Step Forward in Faith: Take one bold step in obedience today, even if you don’t see immediate results.
  • Encourage Someone Else: Share a testimony of how God has guided you when you walked by faith, either in person or through a written message.

Prayer:

Let us come before the Lord in prayer.

"Heavenly Father, help me to walk by faith and not by sight. Strengthen my trust in You, even when circumstances seem uncertain. Remind me that Your plans are greater than what I can see. Give me courage to take steps of obedience, knowing that You are leading the way. In Jesus' name, Amen."
