Day 15: Love One Another as I Have Loved You

Day 15: Love One Another as I Have Loved You

📅 Date: Wednesday, March 19, 2025

📖 Scripture Reading:

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."John 13:34-35 (NKJV)

📖 Full Context (John 13:31-35):

"So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, 'Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately. Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, "Where I am going, you cannot come," so now I say to you. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.'”John 13:31-35 (NKJV)

The Mark of a True Disciple

In His final moments with His disciples, Jesus gave them a lasting example of humility and love. After washing their feet, He prepared them for His departure and left them with a new commandment—to love one another as He had loved them.

💭 What does it mean to love others the way Jesus loves us?
💭 Does my love for others reflect Jesus' love?

How Jesus Loves Us

❤️ Unconditionally – Jesus loves us not because we deserve it, but because He chooses to love us (Romans 5:8).

🙏 Sacrificially – His love led Him to lay down His life for us (John 15:13).

💙 Compassionately – He cares for the broken, forgives the sinner, and lifts up the weary (Matthew 11:28).

🛡 Faithfully – His love never wavers, even when we fail (Lamentations 3:22-23).

Loving Others as Jesus Loves Us

1️⃣ Forgive Freely – Just as Christ forgave us (Ephesians 4:32). Forgiveness is not about forgetting or condoning wrongdoing, but about releasing the offender from the debt of their offense.

2️⃣ Serve Humbly – Jesus washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:14-15), demonstrating that true love is expressed in service.

3️⃣ Love Without Conditions – Show kindness, even to those who hurt you (Luke 6:27-28).

4️⃣ Put Others First – Love is selfless, not self-seeking (Philippians 2:3-4).

When we love this way, we reflect Christ to the world. Jesus said, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Reflect & Respond:

🔍 Heart Check:

  • Do I love others the way Jesus loves me?
  • Are there people in my life I struggle to love?

📖 Scripture Meditation: Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (the “Love Chapter”) and ask how you can grow in Christ-like love.

💡 Action Steps:

  • Show Love Today: Find one practical way to love someone, especially someone difficult, as Jesus loves you (a kind act, an encouraging word, an unexpected blessing).
  • Forgive Someone: If you’re holding onto bitterness, ask God to help you release it.
  • Pray for Someone in Need: Ask God to fill their life with His love.

Prayer:

Let us humbly come before the Lord in prayer.

"Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. Teach me to love others as You have loved me. Help me to forgive, to serve, and to love unconditionally. May my life be a reflection of Your love, so that others may see You in me. In Jesus' name, Amen."
