The announcement came shortly after Billy Markus, the creator of Dogecoin, expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of gaming. Markus criticized game developers and journalists for being “ideologically captured,” arguing that gaming has strayed from its roots due to corporate greed and manipulation. Musk has long shared similar concerns, frequently voicing his opposition to modern gaming’s emphasis on identity politics and agenda-driven content.

A longtime gamer himself, Musk—who ranks among the top players in Diablo 4—has often spoken against elements such as pronoun inclusions and virtue signaling in major video games.
